Cheers & Jeers Submit Your Cheer or Jeer Below...Simply type, submit, get printed Cheers & Jeers FAQ 1. What is Cheers & Jeers? We consider Cheers & Jeers a simplified "Letter to the Editor" or snippet opinion piece. If you have a thank you, shout out, complaint, question, comment, or message you'd like to pose in the form of a cheer or jeer, submit it and we'll print it.
Cheer = encouragement,
approval, praise 2. Are there any rules? Fortunately and unfortunately, yes! 3. What are the rules? - MUST INCLUDE: Full name, Address, Daytime Phone (We will only print your first and last name along with your city) - Please limit your message to about 50 words - There are certain subject restrictions - Editor reserves the right to edit your item (that's you Mr. Potty Mouth or Rambling Shout Out Teen) 4. Can you give an example of a cheer or jeer? - Cheers to Jane Doe for helping me cross the street the other day. What a great citizen! - Jeers to no volunteers showing up to clean-up our city! Come support your local organization! 5. Will you print every Cheer or Jeer received? - The simple answer is no. No if we have a large volume of submissions or "uneditable" messages. We will, however, do our duty to print as many quality messages as possible. We will hold on to messages for a month for rollover from week to week. 6. Where and how often do you print the Cheers and Jeers? - We exclusively print Cheers and Jeers in the newspaper starting in August 2010. We print Cheers and Jeers in every published edition of the Chronicle & DV! Sorry web readers, but for a solution click here. 7. What's Cheers or Jeers worthy? - First, let's talk about what's not cheers or jeers worthy: Birthday wishes, personal attacks, mushy love messages, slanderous accusations...you get the picture. - Second, what is cheers or jeers worthy: A local sports team going to state, questionable spending of taxpayer money, a citizen going the extra mile without seeking praise, people abandoning poor animals in the country, thanking the sweet Lord for rain! You've got it...now submit!
